Yesterday John Mikton, IT Director at ISP, and I gave our first in a series of workshops for parents regarding Digital Life. Yesterday’s session focused on privacy and digital footprints. We walked the 14 participants through a series of videos about how posting works online, how things become viral, strategies for talking with kids, our Digital Citizenship program at ISP, how to check their digital footprint, and their own privacy setting on Facebook.
We received lots of positive feedback, and many parents told us they could have spent a whole day discussing these issues in greater depth. We plan to do this again next week in an evening session to target parents who work during the day. We will continue these session over the next 3 months, offering another round of Privacy workshops as well as workshops on Information Overload.
